‘This Could Be Anywhere’ is the debut solo album from Des Barkus released by Finyl Vinyl. It's a brilliant mix of Americana/Country with a couple of ballads for good measure.
All tracks are written and performed by Des Barkus.
Des is a powerful songwriter, musician, singer and storyteller. His music is heavily influenced by his years living in Texas and by his extensive travels around the world. Many of the tracks are based on personal experience and reflect Des’s unique humour and observation. He produced this album with Guy Dagul.
Des is a regular performer in music circles in the Oxford area.
Finyl Vinyl & Des have released a charity EP 'Fallen Leaves' on 12” vinyl EP & CD with all profits going to the charity Blesma (www.blesma.org). Three of the four tracks are original written and performed by Des Barkus - ‘Fallen Leaves’, ‘King & Country’ and ‘In Their Eyes’ - the fourth track is a cover of the Motörhead track ‘1916’ written by Lemmy Kilmister.
The recording commemorated the centenary of World War I.
